Hi all, i've got a brand new GMC sierra, one of the must haves i had on my list while truck shopping was power extendable tow mirrors. Of my list of must haves that was one of two that i did not get (back up camera was second), im not too worried about it as i love the truck and got a great deal. Im not interested in spending the big bucks to change them, however i need something and my crappy strap on mirrors that worked on my SUV are not cutting it. My dad has a set of those slide on clip on mirrors, but after a hundred miles or so their position will vibrate out of place, he is not sure what brand they are either. So, after that background story here is what im wondering;What mirrors do you all use? And are you happy with them? Where did you get them?Thanks all, i love this forumCheers Jason

I use Cipa brand, bought from local CarQuest dealer. I have been very happy with them, no vibration or problems coming loose.

Yes, they slide on, then you insert a wedge and tighten the knob.

When I was trying to tow with my Pathfinder I tried all sorts of mirrors. some were better than others, but all were poor compared to the built in ones. My $.02 is that if you're planning to tow much then just invest in some nice slide out replacements, and you'll probably be much happier in the long run.

I use thise Fit Systems. I like them more than the CIPA slip on I had on my prior TV.Ford under $250 you can have clones of the OEM towing mirrors with power/heat/signal, $175 for power/heat. Highly recommended.

I used Wheel Master mirrors on my 2001 Silverado and was happy with them - they stayed tight - easy on and off. They have a metal bar going from door out horizontally and an adjustable nylon strap diagonal to bottom of door. I actually still have them.

My new 2013 F150 - I ordered the factory extendable mirrors.

Seems like more hassle thank i'd like...im going to get a pair of slide ons like others have mentioned and if they dont work then im only out $40-$60 and can upgrade to tow mirrors after that...thanks for all of the input, it is greatly appreciated.

My factory tow mirrors on a 2008 silverado 2500 have power mirror adjustment but no power fold or extend.

I got factory style tow mirrors from AM auto parts website. I think they were about 150 or so for the manual style. you can get the power but they cost a bit more. I don't have any vibration problems and are very happy with them.

The GM factory tow mirrors as mentioned do not have power extend, nor do they have power fold. If you current mirrors have power fold, make sure the if you replace them that the tow mirrors are compatible as there are (were when I bought my factory tow mirrors) 2 versions. If you do have the power fold mirrors I think you have to have the BCM reprogrammed as well last I knew.

If you have to have the power fold, then you are limited to the after market models like APT or others have mentioned.

When I bought my truck in 2011 it had the stock sideview mirrors. After I finished negotiating on the price for the truck I told the dealer that I would not take the truck unless the dealer changed out the mirrors for the tow type. The sales manager agreed to make the change.

The GM are fully compabible with the inside controls for adjusting the mirrors and for activating the turn signal LED's in the mirror. The current version does not extend electrically and evidently this is what would usually fail on the older mirrors.

I've got the CIPA slip-ons, am reasonably satisisfied with 'em.

I'd really like to have the newer style like these:

Any decent quality available that'll fit the 1500HD?

Do you have to manually fold them as well...this is what i am trying to avoid, i dont mind manually extending them but dont to have to manually fold them everytime i park

If you are fairly handy, on Ebay you can purchase stock (probably knock off) tow mirrors for about $170/pair and install them yourself. This way you don't have to worry about clip ons. My Silverado 2500 has the stock tow mirrors and they work great although I have to manually pull them out for towing. In reality, I only pull out the passenger side while towing.
