Going from the 7.4L to a 6.0L will feel anemic. Filter 8.1L only.
You may also want to look at the Ford Excursion of similar years, V10 only.
As usual, APT is right on! If you were talking a much newer 6.0/6-speed, you would have a noticeable gain. The older version, not so much. Good advice on the V-10 Excursion, as they may be easier to find than the very capable 8.1 Burb.
