It all depends on RE ratio. Motor and transmissions will all be the same. The 6.0L GM motor is a good pulling motor, but can be thirsty. The Denali XL is all trim. Basically the same as a Cadilac Esclade. For less money and still well equipped a Chevrolet 2500 Suburban will do you just fine. That is unless you want the bling at the expense of towing capacity. Like I said before never seen a Denali 2500, so IMHO I would quit looking at that model. 1500 versions all tend to run out of capacity once you load family and stuff, so be sure to grab a 2500 version.
That what I suspected would be the case with the Denali but it's hard to get that info from data sheets and spec lists. I did that with the Expedition and now I'm losing money trying to sell it. I don't mind the thirst of the engine. My Expedition gets 15mpg on the hwy and 7mpg when towing. I've read that the 6.0L is about the same or a little better. I just needed to make the distinction between the Denali and 2500 to see if it's worth making a long days trip to go get one, most likely out of state, to get one. So far it sounds like the 2500 is the general consensus on what to get. Is the 2500 6.0L still worth buying near 200,000mi? It's not gonna be a daily driver, and I've heard you can put some miles on them without much worry. I'm only asking because the scarcity of finding them, I'm only finding ones at or close 200,000mi.
