Yeah rust is pretty common up here on anything over 100k miles. I prefer minimal rust and prefer to undercoat to prevent further damage but sometimes it's unavoidable. The Expedition we just sold had the rockers completely rusted out and it only had 112k on it. A lot of people don't wash their cars to get the road treatment salt off of them and so they just sit for long periods of time, rotting away.
