We definitely are limited on what we can can have as a vehicle with 7 of us, always have been. We would have loved a 5th wheel but we can't fit into any truck. We already have a a Burb so that's why we thought about just upgrading to a 2500 8.1L. We had been looking for an Excursion possibly based on some other info we ran across on RVing sites. But the Excursions were only listed at 11,000 GVWR. But maybe that's not the diesel version?? I will definitely check out the 350/3500 van. This is why I came here-advice from people who have been there done that =) Can't beat that.
@USMC16 How many people are in your excursion when you tow? Just wondering on the weight difference between our family and yours.
And is there a formula to figure this out better? The one site had us checking our max cargo and occupant weights which we couldn't find the specs on in older Burbs( 2002/2003) that we were looking at. Then we had to multiply and subtract different #'s and that would tell us how much we could tow with our current vehicle. It came out to like 2,000lbs of TT so I feel it wasn't right.
