Excursion won't do it, not enough payload for 7 and it's limited to a 1250 hitch rating. I own one.
Not sure what the GVWR is on the burb, but I know it's not 12,000. More like 8600-9000.
Do I read that right to say all 7 people weigh 700 lbs total? Guess it's all wee lil urchins. :)
I'm not trying to be a downer on this just to be a grump or the weight police. I realize the vast array of different numbers can get confusing, especially for someone new to the towing world. I'd really hate to read about the family of 7 that ended in disaster driving a very overloaded SUV.
Double check those numbers, it's very important.
Here are my #'s for the 2003 2500 Burb 8.1L 4.10:1

And the weights are right for our family. My husband is 190, I am...less(lol) my son is 110, daughter 100, other son 65, other daughter 50 and last daughter 25. That actually puts us at under 700 ;) Our kids range in age from 13yrs -1 1/2yrs. And one of them is adopted from the Philippines so she is a little thing. lol
I totally agree- I don't want to be a casualty alongside the road!! That is why I want everyone's honest opinions. If this were just a few local camping trips on the weekends, we would get the 39' TT but it's more involved than that and will be our home.
I would like it to work to get the 39' TT but not at the expense of the safety of my family. We are also looking at a 2008 McKenzie Starwood 30 on Thursday. I just want to figure out if we are ruling the 39' out or not when we go look at the McKenzie, ya know?
Thanks again for all the help and advice everyone!! I value everyone's input!!
