Thank you so much for breaking it down for me!! So this is what I have learned for sure- No matter what TT we go with we need to get a new vehicle. Our 1/2 ton won't pull anything that will fit all of us(and still be sane at the end of our trip).
And here are the official specs for a Burb 2500-
CHASSIS
Axle ratio... 4.10:1
Fuel capacity... 37.5 gallons
Tire size... LT245-75R-16
Brakes... four-wheel disc, with dual-piston calipers and antilock
Suspension... Frt: Independent with torsion bars; Rr: two-stage, semi-elliptic, multileaf springs
Tow rating... 12,000 lb.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating(GVWR)... 8,600 lb.
Gross Combined Weight Rating(GCWR)... 20,600 lb.
Ok so tell me if I have this right- 12,000 is how much it can tow-TT in this case;GVWR is what the max that should be in the vehicle-people, cargo, tongue weight, (weight of vehicle?); GCWR is the max of how much everything all together should weigh-Burb, people, cargo, TT,tongue weight(vehicle weight?).
Am I following? The 8600 is way different then the 2,000-2100 range Mickeyfan had thought though. We were looking on the sticker in the door that tells us the Tire and Loading Information for "The Combined Weight and Cargo Should Never Exceed: #" but it is not listed. We also tried to look this up for the 2003 Burb 2500 and couldn't find it anywhere. Is this the # that you were referring to?
And yes the TW does confuse me a bit. The one site had us take the weight of our trailer (11,176) and find 13% of that. Which was 1,452. So we looked online to see what hitches there were for a 2003 Burb 2500 and if anything could accommodate that and found this one http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2003_Chevrolet_Suburban.htm which is a Class V with a 2400 lb tongue weight and 16000 pound towing.
That would accommodate the trailer right? But the thing is will the Burb accommodate the trailer, correct?
Thanks again guys for bearing with me as I try to sort all this out =) I REALLY appreciate it.
