Driving above 65 mph pulling a RV is dangerous. Period!
Just love absolute unqualified statements like these....the above is one man's opinion presented like it was one of the immutable laws of nature.
I agree that pulling an RV at any speed can be dangerous. Equipment and conditions play a large part. On the WKY parkway where I'm the only vehicle I can see either ahead or behind me, I have no trouble cruising at the 70 mph limit. On the rolling hills that can mean 65 on the uphill and 75 on the downhill!
When it's raining or on a crowded road I'm more likely to be at 60 or 65 to leave more space between me and the vehicle ahead.
I have no concerns about emergency stopping my rig at 75 mph on dry pavement. I do have concerns when the road is wet because there is no ABS on the TT, and if those tires break loose and start to slide, you may never recover. Releasing the brakes will let the TT tires roll again, but if the TT has slid and is now at an angle to the truck, when the TT tires start to roll all that momentum is now at an angle to the truck and will try to push the back of the truck left or right and may cause the truck to break loose.
Drive the speed that you are comfortable with and that is right for your skills, equipment, and conditions. There is nothing inherently dangerous about towing at 80 mph or faster for that matter if you have the right skills, equipment, and conditions.
