Towing above 65

There is a lot of pissing in the wind here. Bottom line, there are a LOT of variables to safe driving. There is no absolute speed that you are safe if you are under and a lunatic if you are over.

Know the limitations of the driver, of the truck, of your tires, of road conditions and of traffic conditions. Drive only as fast as YOU feel comfortable. For some that is 55, for others like me it is in the upper 60's. Some people feel safe in the 70's and 80's.

Who cares what speed anyone else drives anyways??? Unless you are paying for Turtle n Peeps gas, tires and potential damage to his trailer form a blowout... WHO CARES???

If law enforcement in his area is concerned, they will certainly let him know. Until then, I try not to get my underwear in a twist over something I cannot control.

I simply gave an opinion based on what I have personally seen as a truck driver and owner operator. I made know assumptions and never told anyone what to do.

I simply gave my opinion. Move on....

Don't ignore equipment and conditions, it's NOT all about skills. How do you know this was caused by towing faster than 65? Can't even call it speeding since we don't know what the limit is right here where this photo was taken.

How do you know what the driver was thinking? Did you stop and talk with him/her?

OK, so out of the "vast majority" what % are speeding vs. cornering too fast or failing to stay in lane? We are only talking about towing speed here, not general driving abilities.

Here's a fact from an RV publisher.

Once you hit the road you should take note of the fact  that the vast majority of  RV road traffic accidents are due to speeding, cornering too fast or failing to stay in lane, all of which  fall into the "driving without due care and attention" category.

Prove that was from driving fast.

Same qualifications as you have, which is to say NONE. I'm just as qualified to make that statement as you are to call it absurd.

Why don't you ask this guy how he tows at 80 mph and is still alive?

This is looking a lot like a tire discussion. Isn't the main thought that we all want to do what is safe for everyone and have an enjoyable trip? Thought so. Certainly no expert, but to my way of thinking the faster you're going (or WAY too slow under traffic flow) just increases the chances of a problem. I still don't, and probably never will, understand the mostly male desire to go faster and faster regardless. Sure at least one person of the male persuasion will take offense, but you know it's pretty much true. Just try to explain, however, to the family alongside that you just wiped out that you were doing 75 because you could. Be sure to check on your own family while you're at it. Just because you can, doesn't' mean you should.

Towing 80 mph reminds me;:h

At least at 80 mph you will get to the scene of the accident sooner. :S

There is nothing inherently dangerous about towing at 80 mph or faster for that matter if you have the right skills, equipment, and conditions.
