'Engineer' from my background covers a tremendous amount of territory...
ASIC, component, power, signal, packaging (two kinds...box it comes in to the
computer case you put your coffee cup on), RF, agency (UL type and black badge
type), storage (RPM, solid, etc) and way back to industrial controls...power
meant multiple runs of 1 inch dia wires (am good to 2MegaWatt and
10,000 HP) etc, etc, etc
Am assuming 'automotive engineer' has likewise over lapping and different
disciplines
Some of my engineers were math whizzes that spent their whole days with just
number crunching. Get them outside of that box and they had a hard time remembering
which way to turn an American screw...funny is that one of my engineers tossed
in some English bolts for them to play with... :) The old 'righty-tighty
and lefty-loosely...
