Towing Capacity of Ford Explorer

Um, I would not be so quick to listen to the weight police. There are any number of TT's that can be towed with your vehicle.
Our family started with a 2000 KIWI hybrid which we towed with an Olds Silhouette minivan. With the factory tow package the tow rating was 3500#, and the trailer was 2700# dry. We towed it for 3 years all around the east coast, Canada to Florida. Note that I had the Reese Dual Cam WD bars which were a great addition.
We finally upgraded to a larger TT and at that time moved up to a truck body tow vehicle.
If you are near Hershey, mosey over to the RV show there in September. I'm sure there is some ultra light that will fit your needs.
