Towing capacity

Maybe same engine but not same gearing.

How about towing uphill? Will it still be 18,000 pounds?

Why do you find so hard to believe a 2019 Ram CTD can be rated to tow 18,000#? I tow/carry close to 13,000# with a 2001 Ram CTD yes, a few extra HP and torque than stock, but nowhere near the numbers of a 2018.

As for air drag, the CTD should handle most anything legal to pull but there should be a towing manual available that details what it is rated for.

The red is false, in that there is a minimum speed based on total gvw of the setup. These are the 35 heavier than 15 or 20K lbs, and 40 mph under this amount, I mentioned earlier. Also this IIRC is a 100F day with AC on, no overheating.

Same engine as the dually rated to tow over 30,000 lbs. Same EGT's too.

Just avoid any hills...up or down.

One issue that comes into play, is minimum gradabilaty, IE 12% per current specs. If going up grades steeper than this, you may not have low enough gearing togo up or start on that grade.
Another. Spec is 35 or 40 mph minimum speed on a 5% grade. Is that fast enough for your butt!
The rating you are looking at has some minimum standards....whether they meet your minimum standard is another story issue. Mine is 45mph and 30% grade. Reality is, manufactures tow ratings suck, and are to low! My 02 mind you!
