Didn't read anywhere in the OP that he wasn't satisfied with the capabilities of the truck. Only concerned with fuel mileage.I had a '94 4.3 and pulled a 3000lb trailer. It had no problem pulling the trailer and got the same mileage.
285HP and 305TQ? Very capable. Plenty more than most '90s V8s.
