Losing thousands of dollars trading in a 2014 in an attempt to get better towing MPGs is economically stupid, assuming he's otherwise happy with the truck. For that size trailer he's got plenty of truck if his expectations are reasonable.
I keep a vehicle till it pretty much worn out. The several thousand I saved going with the v6 will be far greater than the decreased trade in value will be.
Comments like yours about being "economically stupid" is why I hate posting here.
By the way I have a degree on economics.
OP, I had your same initial reaction to IdaD's post, then after reading it carefully, I don't think this person meant any offense to you. I believe it was said in response to some posts that suggest that your low MPG is a result of "not having enough truck" and the suggestion that you will need a bigger truck to achieve the goal of better MPG. In a nutshell, I believe this person was sticking up for you. :)
I didn't mean any offense to anybody. I just meant if you trade a 2014 truck to try to improve your towing MPGs, you'll make a dealership someplace very happy.
Sorry, I thought you meant it was stupid to buy the v6 instead of the v8 to begin with.
