We upgraded our tow vehicle to a Nissan Pathfinder only for our comfort and ability to carry more "stuff", as well as having more room for our 3 dogs.
A state cant fine or impound a trailer that NEVER had brakes from the factory irregardless of what they weigh.
Most if not all 10 foot hardtops are under 2000 empty. Brakes are just an option. I wouldn't worry a second about brakes. Find a nice popup and hook up and go....happy camping
