I'm towing with a 3.5L twin turbo direct injected GAS engine and get 11 mpg towing my TT. My truck weighs probably #6000 running down the road empty and I get 21 mpg on the hwy with that.
It's not so much the 'weight' as it is the wind resistance that the front of the full sided TT has that will drag you down.
Try going into a head wind with it and that'll just kill your mpg's big time.
Not sure how you get 16.5 mpg towing a full sided TT, but if you are, then find a way to patent it and you'll be rich! But, just because you are in Germany, how does that make your mpg's that high?
