I have a Chevy C4500 MDT with a complete air ride rear suspension and I use a B&W Companion hitch. No air bag pin box. The air ride suspension seems to ease the stress on the trailer so I haven't found the need to replace the pinbox with an air or shock resistance type. If I were travelling long distances I would add a new pin box.
It's my understanding if you add an air pin box there's no need for an air hitch (overkill).
