I wouldn't want to do it with a 3.73 axle. I think that would be asking too much of my engine and transmission.
Whenever reading how so called "under powered" or "slow" the 7.3L is when towing, bear in mind the axle ratio the person with the opinion had.
And what do think I am trying to say, you have the gears ,and a dually. I didn't think I would have to remind everyone that is raving about the 7.3 what the op has.
The OP's truck is a 250 with 3:73, and yet we are getting reply's like put on a PacBrake, and he is good to go. Thats crazy ,no he is not good to go. He is marginal at best. I did it for too long with a 7.3 to listen to some of these replies.
Well once again I will state Read My Signature!
2001 Dodge 2500 4X4, 5.9 Cummins, NV4500, 3.55's, Pacbrake PRXB, DS Power Puck,Bilstein 5100's, 292,000 miles.
2005 Copper Canyon 293 FWSLS, 32' GCVW 19,500#
I have 3.55's which means my engine has to work harder to move my 11,000#++ 5er.
I have a 2500 SRW, and we have no issues carrying, Pulling, and driving safely down roads like below, at the posted speed limit of 55, or easily 60+.
The OP will likely not be the first to the top of the hill, but won't be the last either!! I also have 200,000 mile on him for age of engine.
