What we don't know here is the year of the Tahoe he's talking about. We had a '95 Burb with 3:42 gears and it did OK towing our old 17ft hybrid trailer (GVWR 3500#), but certainly not great. And it struggled through mountains with that small trailer. On the other hand our Trailblazer with the I6 was a far better tow vehicle than that '95 Burb, and towed that trailer through mountains without difficulty. In '96 they gave the V8 a HP and torque boost.
