You could get the 6.0 in an Avalanche through 2007. Never had the 6.2L. Only the Escalade had the 6.2 (and still does). - zrone90ExplorerI had the 6.2 in my 07 Avalanche so it was available.
- bikendanExplorerYep, Avalanche has been discontinued. So there's no 6.2 motor in the future. Where did you read that?
I own a 2007 Avy and there were no more 2500 Avys when they went to the GM900 chassis in 2007.
My Avy has a max tow of 7200lbs but only about 1300lbs of payload.
The max I would tow is 6000lbs.
It's a very limited tow vehicle, since it's basically a Suburban with a pickup bed and not a true 1/2 ton pickup. - APTExplorerAvalanche is a less capable Suburban with respect to towing an RV. Why not a crew cab pickup?
Only way to get the 6.2L in an "Avalanche" is the Cadillac version with even lower payloads. - fireman41Explorer

When did they stop producing the 2500 Avalanches?
2007 was the last year. - shinglers3ExplorerI towed my travel trailer around half the country with my 02, check out http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/ for any Avalanche towing info you need. Great group over there. The Avalanche is a great truck, wish I still had mine, rode like a Caddy. But, I can't tow a 5'ver with it, so now its a 2500HD with an open bed, ugh no storage.
- RoadpilotExplorerI have a '13 Avalanche which was the last year they made it. I use it regularly to tow a utility trailer or a boat. I have the 5.3. IMHO my '05 Silverado with the 5.3 had more poop. The transmission shift points with the Avalanche seem more geared to economy then towing. Overall I like the Avalanche for towing because it has the integrated brake controller and the air suspension.

- turbojimmyExplorerThey stopped the 6.0L in the Avalanche in '07. The Escalade EXT still has it. It is basically like towing with a 1500 pickup. It might be a bit heavier than the pickup since it's basically a Suburban with the back 1/4 chopped off. Mine weighs almost exactly 6,000 lbs with me in it. I've never towed a travel trailer with it, but I have towed some pretty heavy stuff (most recently a U-Haul car trailer and '63 Impala). I can say that whatever that combo weighed made for a 13-hour, white knuckle drive.
- GolfcartExplorerMy dad had '13 avalanche with a rear air leveler from the factory so it rode very smooth pulling his camper
I always assumed Avalanches and Tahoes were the same breed, since they both have the same options, and the bed of the avalanche is part of the whole body of the vehicle
