Towing with Dodge 6.4

I'm towing about 8,300 lbs loaded in my TT with my 2500 5.7l and it has plenty of power for it, I imagine the 6.4l would be a dream to tow with.

I get 19mpg highway unloaded if I keep it under 70mph. 13-14 around town. City really kills the mpg's. Thankfully I'm not in the city often.

I don't drive that fast, (speed limit here is 65 mph), but I get about 17 mpg at hwy speeds. I have the 4.10 rear, the 3.73 would do better.

I don't drive it a lot unloaded/unhitched (have an Accord for daily driving), but I think I probably get somewhere around 15 (not driving conservatively).

I was tailgating before the Colts/Bengals playoff game Sunday and several people wanted to talk to me about my truck. I'm starting to see more of them around.

Unrelated to the topic, but my wife got me WeatherTech floor mats for the truck as a Christmas gift. These things are great. Camping often means dirt, mud, and water, and these handle that way better than the the factory carpet mats. Only had them a couple of weeks, but I've already tracked in mud and cleaned them right off with no problem. I think I will probably have these going forward in any truck I own.

I'm very happy with my 6.4. Ive towed my nearly 12k tt and she handles it well. Mine has 3:73 gears. Very impressed so far.

I'm happy with mine. 6.4/4.10 pulling a ~12k, almost 39' fifth wheel. I came from a 03 Ram Cummins 5 speed. On the steep hills with the load, you may see 2nd gear, but you will still be able to maintain decent speed. This might not even be an issue with 8k lbs.

I averaged 7 mpg over 2,100 miles from Ohio to Floriday and back. I average about 13 mpg daily driving. I have around 6500 miles on the truck now.

Anyway, Im interested too. My dad will be looking for a new truck to pull their 8000 lb TT and I was thinking this would be about perfect.

As I was typing that I was trying to remember what the RPMs were @ 60. I remember us comparing on a thread once and I think it was around a 500 RPM difference at 60. If anyone is motivated enough they could probably dig it up to see exactly. I think it was about 6 months ago. I'm just shooting from memory when I say 3500 @ 60 for me.
