On the Truck Camper Magazine article - they seem very happy with the truck, even despite the fact that their in cab mpg readout is optimistic by 11% according to their numbers.

They are averaging 11 mpg with a 3500 dually with a 5000# cab over slide in camper on it. I get 7-9 mpg (usually 8ish) pulling my 5er.

Is the 6.4 Direct Injected? Because my 3.5LEcoB DI meter is right on. And I've wondered whether it has anything to do with the Direct Injection allowing the engine to know exactly how much fuel it is using.

Have been hand calulating from the beginning and the difference between the gauge and hand is only 0.07%, and I'm sure that most of the error is in topping up the tank.

What's nice about having such a precise guage (two of them in the F150) is that you can then use it to separate towing from non-towing mileage.

Seems like the dash readout might be a bit optimistic. :R

That's not geeky enough! I log every tank in my daily driver @ Fuelly from my smartphone with an app called Gas Tracker.

Your averaging 15.6 MPG's? I must have really gotten screwed or I am doing things horribly wrong, the best average MPG's I ever averaged on my 2012, 2500 with 3.73's was 12.5 hand calculated. That was with a fairly equal mix of city and highway driving.

My 5.7l, over 3k hand calculated, is at an overall average of 15.6 MPG. Towing I am 9.5 - 10.2 MPG, including one two up to Big Bear Mountain.

A good place to check mileage is to go to Fuelly. I post my truck's fuel mileage on there with its 6.7. It has the highest MPG of all the trucks for my year, namely because I don't tow anything with it yet. I just haul the family and stuff around and tend to use it for longer trips or just work commutes.

Lots of people like to get on the HWY reset their MPG computer, drive a couple of miles under ideal conditions and report that as their "average" hwy mpg.

Unless it's hand calculated over at least a couple hundred miles its meaningless.

I'd be interested in any reports of towing with the 6.4 at higher altitudes, say 6000 to 9000 ft.
