I need to tow the TT approx 80 miles, highway and flat roads. I'm a newbie so the question is: would it be ok to tow just to get the TT home? If I made multiple stops would that help? I keep hearing the importance of a trans cooler and wondering if I can make it home without damaging my TV. I'm not even sure if my Yukon has a factory one or not (again, newbie here). I do plan on installing one shortly after. Thanks.
I expect you'll be fine, just take it easy. My vehicles have transmission temp readouts, and I have it up 90% of the time I'm towing. While long hills heat the fluid the most, the second most taxing event seems to be driving in stop and go traffic. For example, near the end of a longer highway hill, my temps might be 210-220* (keep in mind I'm in Utah, so a longer hill to me is several miles of 5-8% grades and a couple thousand feet of elevation gain). In town or stop and go, I'm usually between 200 and 210*. Cruising on the freeway or flat highway with minimal shifting, the number is usually 190-200*.
Good luck!
