Towing without trans cooler?
I have a 2001 Yukon XL 2wd (1/2 ton). I'm having my hitch and brake controller installed Monday so I can pick up my TT on Tuesday. I'm pressed for time and not sure if I'll be able to install a transm...

You will be OK on a short flat trip. But do keep it out of OD as that will cause the trany to get hotter.
I doubt your 2001 has tow haul. So just lock out od and ride.
BTW. I believe you will find running in 3RD gear will be a better more pleasing driving experience anyway. Not only does the trans stay cooler, but you have much more throttle response, and the MPG is the same, as the engine is not working / lugging, so hard to stay in OD.
