Another non-hater here. I drove several Toyotas when I was younger and still think they were the best made vehicles I ever owned for their day.
As everyone is saying the payload is a weak link (as with most 1/2 tons). So, as long as the #s work with what you're towing go for it. Just for comparison sake if you do need more payload the payloads for the 2500 series trucks are going to be roughly 2X the Tundra. Also, some of the new gas engines are getting pretty nice MPGs. The Ford 6.2, the Ram 6.4 and I think GM/Chevy is coming out with a new engine that gets decent mileage as well.
When Toyota broke into the 1/2 ton market it really shook things up. I sure wish they would step up in to the 3/4 ton truck segment. I can only imagine what they could put together.
