Arctic Fox versus Toyota Tundra

You'll exceed your truck's payload before any of the other numbers more than likely

The hitch weight on the Arctic Fox is about the same as my Wind River and with my truck, 2011 F-150 Eco-boost Max-tow, I'm just under my max payload loaded of 1450 and max hitch wt. of 1150. I would say you'd be way overloaded.

Tongue weight of 1020 is likely already over the Tundra's receiver rating once you add WD equipment, propane, batteries, load for camping, etc.

It may get the trailer moving, but it'll be a white knuckle experience controlling it. Been there, done that, it's just not worth it.

Our previous TT had a GVWR of 7600 lbs (we probably overloaded it somewhat, and towed it weighing perhaps 8000 lbs.) The truck pulled it fine, but we could tell we were right at the limit (and above the GVWR of the truck, actually). And I'm sure stopping it was a little tough on the brakes, good as they are. I'd not recommend as heavy a trailer as you're considering with this light of a truck. The engine will do fine, but it will tax the body.

And if you intend to tow in the mountains, towing max capacity will not likely be fun. Our TT is very light (2740# loaded), originally towed with a Nissan Frontier that was rated at 6800# so we were less than half the rating on that TT.. towing in the mountains stank, often we couldn't get back up to speed after slowing for tight turns.. and very often we had to flog that poor truck.

That being said I believe the changed the tow rating calculation methods recently, my fronty was an '07 so likely was 'rated' using the earlier much more optimistic methods.

The GVWR is required to be on the tire/VIN placard. If you can tow the GVWR, you can tow the trailer.

Well, maybe, that is if the tongue weight along with the people and cargo in the TV doesn't put the tow vehicle over it's GVWR. :@

Exactly. This is nice and simply stated. Ready to camp you'll always be closer to GVWR than the stated dry weight.

T18, Your Tundra may be rated for 9000 lbs, but read the rest of your numbers. On my Tunrda, the gross combined vehicle rating (total of truck and trailer weights) is the limiting factor and results in a max trailer weight much less than the towing capacity.

hitch weight: 1,020 lb
gvwr: 10,800 lb

Just like your retired profession, a little extra in front is a lot better than not enough.
