How many people do you plan on carrying? Do you need an extended cab or reg cab? A 1500lbs camper will easily exceed 2k once you put your stuff in it. Then you still need to account for passenger weights. You need a truck with a minimum of 2500lbs payload which is out of range of all 1/2 ton trucks with the exception of the rare F150 with max payload package. Even then you will still likely exceed the rear axle rating which is even worse than exceeding the payload rating.
On top of that you want to pull a boat adding tongue weight and are already talking bigger in the future? Put the 1/2 ton out of your mind and wait until you can afford a proper truck. It will cost you a lot moe down the road if you start with the wrong truck now.
