I can tell you I bought a Toyota Tundra with the smaller V8 because it had a tow rating (with tow package) of 8100#'s. My trailer, loaded and ready to go probably max's out at 6000's (dry weight 4800#'s) I've been over some steep, windy stuff and the truck has done great. I have faith in the Toyota ratings - better check the others closely before you buy. Good luck
