BINGO...I already asked that. And I own a 2007 Tundra with the 5.7L....
Maybe they are being literal?
In the sense that...
1 ton = 2000lb
3/4 ton = 1500lb
1/2 ton = 1000lb
Without taking the time to do the research, certain configurations of the Tundra (like 2wd, non crew cab) might offer payloads in the 1500lb neighborhood.
Like I already posted, some versions of the Tundra have a payload over 2000 lbs... Most Tundras have a payload of over 1500 lbs. They aren't the dog that everyone claims they are...
