TR: Northern Cali Gems
We took off to Northern California for the Month of July :)
Grant Lake near mammoth, CA
I was unaware that free Lake side camping exists in California, shhhh don't tell your friends :)
Nice little place to call home for the weekend
and a great spot to try out the inflatable kayaks
so sad to have to go
we headed to Reno where I had to work for the week, then headed further north. to volcanic country
to Medicine Lake
we are really liking our coleman double chair
had a nice paddle around the lake, while my daughter couldn't put her book down
Brett was in relax mode as well
we mustered up the energy to explore
nearby fire lookout
Mt Shasta in the distance along with little glass mountain
a closer look of little glass mountain
we also checked out the Ice Cave
From medicine lake via hwy 89 we headed to the coast via Klamath River Hwy and ended up finding a nice free campsite right on the river
and to Patricks Point State Park (this place is amazing)
newest addition to the TC
nice views around
Brett enjoyed the beach access to the tide pools
some neat history in the park
a canoe carved from redwood
Our ultimate destination was what I consider one of the best spots to park a truck camper for a pay campground: Gold Bluffs Beach, site 9 is by far the best
the beaches seem to be endless
The Forests straight from the garden of eden
and or Endor
its hard to believe this is so close to the ocean
This looks like old growth to me
there truly are some spectacular groves to see, with pretty much zero people around
most everyone goes to see Fern Canyon, but so many miss everything else. (disclaimer: this was a difficult picture to take without having people in the background)
riding the coastal trail
a point of interest along the way
fleeing from the hoards of mosquitos
yeah site 9 is pretty sweet
I thought it was funny how the rangers had a few trails closed due to the Roosevelt elk mothers protecting their young, yet the moms marched their young right through the campground
Next stop was back to the 89 near Mcloud, CA at Fowlers Camp
lower falls
middle falls
upper falls
kids wanting to go over the falls, just kidding
our final leg of the trip was a few days in Yosemite with my Bro and his Lance 830, we always seem to get lucky nabbing last minute reservations.
hope you enjoyed the tour :)
