Trade-in vehicle question?

A good dealer will give you a check for the difference.

My daughter did this very thing to get a better vehicle for hauling her two dogs.

Well, I'd say that if the dealer knows the value of the vehicle you are trading in is worth more than the vehicle you want, I'd do the deal, if the numbers worked out to where I'd make money in the end if I was the dealer... ;)

But, I would not offer you "retail" value of the vehicle you want to trade in... I'd make it worth my while at least?

Well I just wanted to know if anyone has gone this route and the result, I'd only do it if it was fair. It's an unusual circumstance.

It should not be difficult to sell your Ram privately. They are a very popular truck and there are many people looking to buy them. Then you can go and buy the other truck with no trade which gives you more bargaining power as well.

The biggest hurdle to selling something worth that much money privately is to avoid the scams and find a buyer who actually has the money or access to it. It can be done though and I think you will be much better off going this route.

Go see the dealer and find out. You're probably going to take a real beating if you trade your Ram for the Colorado.

I'm curious because my 2014 Ram 3500 4X4 DRW CTD is worth much more than a new 2016 Chevy Colorado.

The only way to answer that is to know the 2 vehicles involved??

I could never imagine this to happen since dealers will never give retail for your trade-in. You will always get more selling your vehicle private treaty versus a dealership.
