Even though we tow the Jayco Jay Flight with the F150, it's nice to have another vehicle that can tow. I won't go with a bigger camper, if anything, something smaller. I still would like a Pop Up. It also would be nice to tow the camper with mine and a larger john boat with her's.

The 2015 Ford Explorer does not have a factory trailer brake controller. With the Tow package you get the oil cooler, 3.65 axle ratio gearing, class 3 hitch (5000/500 lbs), and a 4 way/ 7 way plug.

Ford does not list the trailer brake controller harness pigtail as an accessory. My 2008 Explorer Sport Trac had this in the glove box when the Explorer was delivered to me. This 2015 was missing this harness pigtail in the glove box or anywhere else.

I'll be talking to the manager about the omission of the harness upon delivery and see what can be done.

Since he has the tow package, this is probably the best solution. However, sometimes dealerships do strange things. I bought a new Dodge Grand Caravan in 2013 without the tow package. I went to the dealer to order the factory wiring harness just like the tow package models have. I already had the part number written down. The dealer absolutely refused to order it for me because my VIN showed that I have a non-tow package model. I was literally standing there with my credit card trying to place the order, and they would not do it. It was just a very strange situation. I ended up going home and ordering it on the internet that night. Sometimes the dealer parts departments are too focused on what their computer screen tells them.

I decided to buy the wire from prodigy that plugged directly from the controller to the truck. It wouldn't surprise me if Ford has discontinued offering this harness as it's likely 90% of them are never used in Explorers, and the trucks have the OEM controllers now.

Sure you do not have the integrated trailer brake controller?

there wasn't one in my 2013 with tow package and when
I asked the dealer he said there isn't one in the parts book

Typically 'Tow Package' would include pigtail harness for controller and Relay for fuse panel.

Stop by dealer and tell them you didn't get yours....good salesman will get you one FREE
