IMHO trailer brakes are the weakest link in our trailers.
Anything that improves their functioning I would jump on.
I had a Prodigy P3 and had the grabby brake problem at slow speeds. So I would turn it down. But then forget to turn it back up at hwy speeds. Not good.
Now have a Ford IBC, and it's like night and day.
To the O.P., I would get the DirectLink if an IBC is not available for your truck.
