trailer covers

A few years ago I had a trailer and put a cover on it and the cover rubbed a hole in the rubber roof along the top edge of the trailer where the roof meets the siding. Is there a good way to stop this damage from happening would like to have cover on new trailer?

  • I had one of the better covers from camping world.

What did you cover it with?
  • I would guess you didn't have the cover tight enough.

As said above, my cover blows a bit in the wind, but the edges of the cover never shift. It's more like the cover puff's up, but never changes location on the trailer.

I'd say mine is tight enough that its a struggle to open a window more then 6" out from the trailer wall.
  • The straps should be snug, but not overly tight, or it will tear at the corners. Mine billows on the sides, but doesn't flap around a lot, if that makes sense. Like I said, I think if I were in a high wind location I probably wouldn't use it. I'm protected on all sides by trees, and so don't often get more than a breeze.

  • Welcome to the forum, T-Tom! Glad you're here. I've both covered and left mine uncovered for the last couple of years. I think the most important thing in covering is to keep it snug. Low wind setting is also important. If the cover whips around a lot, it will probably chafe. Only negative, imo, to not covering is premature fading, especially the decals. I don't hesitate to cover mine, but it's protected from both wind and strong sun. Much cleaner in the spring that way.
