Trailer length concerns

One question I didn't see asked is

How does he use his trailer?

A smaller length can be fantastic for short camping trips.

Where we are almost full-time and need a 'home replacement' sized trailer.

Our first trailer is 33' and after five years of travelling all over PA and out west, I can say it hasn't been an issue at all. Now, of course, there are certain realities that you will have to abide by. You're not going to get into too many places where ONLY 20 footers can go, but as said, there are places for you wherever you go, including the National Parks. Just might not be off the beaten path as far as other smaller trailers. It's a non issue for us and we enjoy the extra size on a regular basis. We aren't going any smaller.

I camp at PA state parks and many sites can't fit 30 ft trailers and crew cab pickups. Most have warnings on the web res detailing maximun tt length, site length, difficult/impossible turning radius. ???The max i would go with our 2500 sub is 26 to 28ft bunkhouse tt or another hybrid ie Roo 233ss.

I would check your favorite campgrounds and see if they would accommodate your length. Understand they will only have a few sites that length and you will be competing with lots of other campers for those few sites. You probably already know in California you will have to be up early to get reservations on Reserve America for the state campgrounds.

It can be done as we have a 34' 5th wheel and like to go to the state parks. We never show up late on a Friday and always check out the campground for future sites that will accommodate us.

It depends on your usage .
If you plan to go on a trip that requires long distances some days you should consider the minimum length you can get by with .
On a long drive day if you have too much truck and less trailer your wife can spell you for a one hour nap each day .
Gals are not as comfortable with a long trailer .
My friend's wife wrecked their relatively new trailer because they bought longer and stayed with an F 150 .
If you have discovered that the best camping is boondock dry camping just like we have a shorter trailer is an advantage fording a little gully to park your trailer right next to the stream in a brochure ready picture spot .
We do both of these and moved way down in length and that has proven to be correct for us .
For Us the Perfect Answer : diesel / allison gmc towing a 21T Komfort that we have kept twice as long as any other .

Check with some potential parks first. We travel many state parks and and are finding more are limiting the length to 35'. Some we have been to cannot even handle that. I have helped many 5'ers and TT's into and out of tight sites. And have also seen them get damaged because (1) they were too large and (2) the driver didn't know what the hell they were doing. If I were buying a trailer and planned to stay at a lot of state parks I wouldn't exceed 31'

Havn't been restricted by CGs but have been unable fit in places we went to with a smaller trailer.

Long rigs are a problem, because many campgrounds were built when 27ft was a max,and most folks had truck campers.Many times you can contact a campground and ask if they can accommodate a long rig and get a yes answer when maybe they will have only 4-6 long spots and when you arrive they will be taken.
