For those that want to discuss braking. LEO's have a way of testing the brakking system of you truck and trailer in the field. Fail ANY of the perimeters, you are impounded on the side of the road, or towed off the road on a flatbed etc to a repair yard. Then the WSP has to come to the site and verify repairs have been done correctly.
You may want to have seperate house and brake batteries. If your house batteries are below 11.8V after spending the night somewhere, you will have a failed braking system! You then sit there idling the batteries with your truck motor, or a genset until they reach a min of 11.8V. Along with a fine for having the braking battery being too low.
If you cannot stop the whole combo from 10mph on a level with in IIRC 25', Your braking system is in failure. You get a fine! no driving the unit until properly braked and or fixed!
From a start in 1st gear, with the ebrake cord pulled on the trailer, you need to start moving. If the trailer does not hold the TV, or ALL the tires are not locked up while moving, your trailer has a failed braking system. You get a fine, trailer is red tagged impounded on the side of the road where it sits.
If you have a trailer that is moving side to side more than 12", an leo can pull you over for a safety infraction, impound you on the side of the road until the sway issue is fixed/solved.
Trust me, LEO/CVEO's can get you off the road if you are a safety issue! Weight/manufactures ratings are NOT the thing that will pull you off the road! some of the other things I have mentioned will. Even the over the axel ratings that I mentioned earlier, you could go over them by paying a non-moving violation fine, ie what the damage to the road will be tax, and keep moving......
LOOK UP the rules in your state. I have done this, been to numerous class's put on by WSP CVEO's to make sure my business trucks, person use etc is legal! Manufacture limits are ONLY a warranty item only as far as the LEO/CVEO's in Washington state are concerned! Wadcutter, a poster on here that is a retired CVEO, will also tell you, manufacture limits mean nothing from a weight standpoint. As will other LEO's and CVEO's that have posted here.
CIVIL court, again, all bets are off!
