If the truck's manufacturer wants to use the words "must not" to point out one of THEIR limiting factors I assume it only applies to their product and in THEIR words.
My truck is registered in SC. My registration limits my combined load to 23,500#. If stopped and inspected by a SCDOT weight officer and found to be over that limit I'm going to get a stiff fine. I had to show proof of the 4.10 gearing before SC would issue my registration with the 23.5K limit on it.
All the gears do is add durability. I ran WAY over on my 11 HO Dually at 29K and 3.43's. Same truck would have been within limits with 4.10's. Truck handled the load no different safety wise.
