Also again, manufacturer's ratings are not enforced except in regard to warranty claims, so what difference does it make? Unless you go into the service bay towing a trailer, the manufacturer doesn't have any idea if you have ever exceeded the rating.
Nope! In this case the only difference is the gear ratio! So if you go from 3.73 to 4.30 (like I did) then you now have a higher GCWR. As well as a higher tow rating. The only place it spells it out is in the owners manual. Yes there is a sticker on the door with the gear ratio info. But that is to let the consumer know what the truck has/had when it was built! Just because it's still on the sticker doesn't mean the truck can't tow more with a different gear ratio!
