trailer moving

I'm looking to make something up to hook to my tractor loader bucket that I could pick up the front of my trailers and move them around. Any one made such a thing? Something with a ball on it.

  • The tractor isn't mine. Mine is on a Kubota. I didn't have a picture handy so I grabbed this off the internet. Yes. It looks like the tire needs some air. Not sure what it is.
Mitch, mine is a three cylinder tractor. I've used it to move boat trailers, enclosed trailers, landscape trailers, dump trailer and a box trailer. Much nicer moving a trailer facing forward.

ha, I did miss the spelling on that! :) My Dad never thought of using the front loader on ours for that purpose, but I can say that it would not have been very easy to maneuver with that much weight on it, as I got the rear wheels off the ground many times with just a full load in the bucket.. Having that much weight on just the front axle, plus those little tires would not have worked for our trailer.

Hitching it up to the rear, made it stable and balanced for manuerving even in the tightest of places and angles (we didn't move that thing around on a level plane).

Anyway, it did help me learn how to back up trailers into just about any space it can physically fit into. :)

Here is one similar to the one I made. I also made a receiver for my three point hitch. I place an angle iron where the receiver is clamped to the bucket to distribute the load across the full width of the bucket.

I like it. But, you have a flat tire.

    Is that on a back-hoe?

  • Nice flat tire on that tractor! :) When I was a kid, we used our little Kabota tractor (little 3 cylinder diesel) to move around our TT with a fabricated hitch setup on the rear of it.. It worked great.

  • I use my Hi/Lo with a ball on one of the forks to move trailers around all the time. As stated just drill a hole and loosely attach a ball with nut.
  • I have seen where someone just drills a hole in the bucket. The ball is just added and removed as needed. The hole really does not affect the use of the bucket. I have also seen a unit made to attach to the 3 point hitch if you are moving 5th wheels with the ball hitch.
