Trailer steps, sore knees

We spent 3 months snow birding this winter. Walking up and down the trailer steps for months has made both of my knees very sore.
I am sure others have this problem too. Do you have any ideas for modifying the trailer that would be portable but sturdy? Thanks for your help.

    June 23rd they are making my right knee sturdier, and I should be more portable!
    Total knee replacement coming up, we'll keep you posted.
    Last month I had a total left hip replacement. I can only repeat what I have heard so many others say, I shouldn't have waited so long! 4 weeks later and I am walking quite well and unassisted, I still get a little tired with a small amount of pain, but overall coming along very well!

    RV company. They make steps for trailers, I have it. Works great, a little expensive. No sore knees, for this 3 months.
