Trailer Storage Humidity Control

I just returned from my first trip in a 16' Jay Feather Ultra Light. I had to re-winterize it because we are still freezing here in Buffalo, NY. The trailer will sit for at least one month. I plan to park it near my barn and plug it in to AC to charge the battery. How can I prevent it from getting that musty odor inside. Should I crack the roof vent? High winds, swirling snow and awful weather are common here.
Thanks for any ideas.
  • We have had a boat for over 20 yrs in the northeast. Storing it in the winter, shrinkwrapped, out in 20-50 degree weather until it is opened to clean and prep for the summer. I have used a mixture of kitty litter and calcium chloride in a plastic tub. Four throughout the boat. Kitty litter on the bottom to absorb the water that the CC draws. When we open the boat in the spring, the plastic buckets are almost 2/3 full of water and there is no mildew growth on the headliner.

    cheap and easy solution!

PM me if you have ?'s
  • Someone told me that you can just leave a table lamp in them with about a 100w bulb on...????
  • I keep my vents open a little to allow the humidity & temperature to equalize. Less apt to have collect moisture inside the trailer.
  • Wally World sells an odor absorber in the RV accessories section. Might also try a few boxes of baking soda around various places in the TT.
  • An inexpensive way is to go and buy a box of dryer sheets that you like the smell of and place them in every drawer/cupboard on board. I even place them in the beds. I do this every year as part of my winterizing routine and it works great.
