If the trailer is very light in comparison to the load rating of the tire then doing so would result in uneven tire wear. But your statement is correct in that the tire will handle higher speeds at the higher PSI, until the tread wears badly in the center!
For crying out loud. He's not running 14" race tires. He's running 6" pizza cutters on his trailer. I have run max +10 for many, many sets of tires on my trailer and have never cut the center out.
