We want a bedroom with a door, a slide, and a bathroom with the sink inside it. The trailer has to be fully functional and accessible with the slide IN. We have to stay towable with a F150 and want to keep dry weight around 5000. We don't need or want bunks--just the 2 of us.
The Coachmen Freedom Express 231RBDS would seem to meet your requirements. As a Freedom Express owner myself I'm quite familiar with this model and although it is a tight squeeze one can get between the dinette slide & galley when the slide is retracted and gain access to the fridge and the HUGE bathroom. I wouldn't want to camp with the slide retracted but for road side stops to make lunch or use the bathroom there's no need to deploy the slide. However, the 231RBDS is 26' 10" coupler to bumper so the question is whether this meets your definition of "shorter". :h My own Coachmen Freedom Express 192RBS is just 22' 6" coupler to bumper and will easily fit on pretty well any campsite, a huge advantage especially when we don't reserve ahead of time and just show up looking for a site. The interior is fully accessible with the small sofa slide in the travel position but if the 192RBS is too short then I'd suggest you consider the 231RBDS which is a very nice model. :B Alternately, if the 231RBDS is still too long and you can live without a slide you might also want to consider the popular Coachmen Freedom Express 204RD which because it has no slide at all is by definition "fully functional" all the time. :B
