Agree. However, ours came with the free standing table and 4 chairs originally. With the table turned parallel to the length of the trailer, there was plenty of access to the living room area. We eventually removed the stand alone table, chairs and the two rocker chairs and replaced all that with a couch. With slides in, the couch and the hid-a-bed (in couch position) is functional. (as was the free standing table originally.
Granted the television, if mounted to the lift in the cabinet along the back window, is blocked from viewing with the slides in. We ended up replacing the original television with another one, and I attached a quick dismount on the lift so it could be removed easily. However, we found it much easier to just set the new television (on it's own legs), on top of the lift cabinet and we still lay it on the bed when in transit. The television can easily be set up anywhere, including the kitchen sink area now, or even taken outside, if slides are in.
We have camped with slides in several times, especially in less than desirable weather conditions. Because we have a television in the bed room, we just stretch out on the bed for television viewing. This works for us.
Still, with all slides in, we can still reach the cabinets along the back window, upper and lower. The 298RE and 295RE Outback travel trailers are still very functional with slides in, with some small adjustments (mostly the television and if you don't have the built in dinette).
