A couple of comments on different subjects here. On my trailer the manufacturer cautions the trailer should be level before deploying the slide. Also it's drive design is such that you are supposed to run it all the way out or all the way in, without stopping.
No matter in my case, one of the criteria when I was shopping was full usability with the slide in. Glad I have that because I often use the inside of the trailer for lunch stops on travel days.
Regarding the fan in the fridge, mine has that because yes the fridge is in the slide. I like the fridge being in the slide because it opens up that much more floor space. My comment regarding the fridge though is that some have a "heater coil" in the gasket to prevent condensation and freezing of the gaskets to the door frame. Some allow you to switch that off, others do not. It too is a battery drain when not on shore power.
If boondocking were important to me, I'd have plenty of battery and solar power.
