Transmission Problem

Got the transmission out today. Feels like the input shaft is broke. I also think something is wrong with the transfer case. There is side to side play in the tail shaft and when I spin the front shaft I hear a clicking sound in the transfer case. Hopefully my buddy can look at it Monday.

This has been a bad week. My wife had surgery on Tuesday, My kid smashed up his car on Wednesday, My dog had surgery and my transmission went out today.

I checked the transfer case. No leaks. Transmission is coming out tomorrow. My buddy is a transmission tech and he said it is most likely one of three things. Either the torque converter broke, the pump went or the input shaft broke. He said all three are simple fixes. Well simple for him. I am planning on bringing to him Monday.

You're going to have to update your signature now... it stopped purring like a kitten.

Could be anything...I know that's not to helpful but get it diagnosed professionally. I will say that I had problems with my 02 2500 that I had owned. It was a bad TC that went out. The problem was that the TC split. Now I later found out that some of the earlier 01-03 had that problem due to the TC being defective. So its a possibility, and as already stated above if u have the 4x4 check the trans case for pump rub for sure....

Could be many things. Convertor, flywheel, or if a bang with no other noises, maybe input or intemediate shafts.

See you have a programmer? If it limits or disables torque management and you were at heavy throttle passing someone, I would guess the input shaft broke.
