- Roundtwo-40ExplorerAre you using a weight distributing hitch with anti sway bars? If so that is what is probably creaking, mine has friction bars that rub metal on metal.
- Wpk109ExplorerYes, we are using a weight distribution hitch with anti-sway (friction bar).
- sbowman871ExplorerGrease the trunion ends on the weight distribution bars.
- GilliedogKiwiExplorerWe get a few cracks mostly when doing a sharp turn but its only the bars as previously mentioned. I rather have those few noises and the safety of the straightline hitch with the camlocks.
Angela and Gary - Roundtwo-40ExplorerMine creaks when turning (or I just notice it more then :)) From my experience it is normal and will always do it. If it stops turn around and go back to pick up your trailer :B JK.
- Wpk109ExplorerLOL! Thanks for all the advice! Can't wait to get out and enjoy the outdoors!
- Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerSounds pretty normal to me.
- JIMNLINExplorer IIII lube all my suspension flex/pivot points once a year so my trailers suspension don't creak/pop/squeak/groan/etc.
Hitch noise and suspension noise is easily determined by letting some one drive the rig around a corner in the campground while you walk along beside the trailer. - goducks10ExplorerMake sure you lube the short end of the spring bar that slide up into the WD head.
- colochoclabExplorerOurs makes a racket, especially at slow speeds. It is indeed the EQ hitch creaking and groaning, it is normal. I use the "Sway Bracket Jackets" on my Equalizer and it helps a bit.
