Travel Trailer for one, full time living under 16ft.

Hello all! I am looking for a the best travel trailer for full time living under 15ft. I love small spaces so no worries there and and am every bit a minimalist. But I want all the features of a large trailer on a small scale with good lasting quality. I have searched countless brands and have yet to find any model thats would accommodate me. I need a good dc fridge, proper solar (something beyond a trickle), a good clean generator, a shower (not for full time), microwave, stove, sink, DEEP cell battery, separate toilet from shower (asking too much?), good black water - grey water - storage, twin bed only (that might make it easier) if there were one, no room for guests, and maximized storage (just a mini closet please). I am willing to upgrade solar on my own but seriously where is this trailer? I can't be the only one to look for it? Im not cheap and know what I want but is it out there??

    Airstream makes a 16ft.

As I recall, they only carry about 23 gallons of fresh water. It's gross weight is 4,500# and when wet it is about 4,000#. That doesn't give you much weight to full time with.
  • The big question is what are your requirements for storage, tankage, and amenities? Google "technomadia" and you will learn plenty of great tips for full-timing. The couple that produces this site full-timed for awhile in a T@b trailer, moved up to an Oliver fiberglass trailer, and now have a converted bus. I have read about folks full-timing in VW camper vans, so a trailer under 16' could work if you travel light.

Why don't you list the brands that you have crossed off your list - and why?

No hard and fast floorplans because you can pretty much get what you want. I was going for a small dinette front, larger in rear, but the fresh water tank size was cut in half when it was under a front dinette seat. behind a couch in the rear was 30 gallons as opposed to 16 gallons front. Went with dinette front and couch/bed rear. 19 feet, full bath, 3 burner with oven, furnace, a/c, water heater, 2 bunks/cupboards (one each end).

yep, I will let them half way off the hook for that reason, but think it would be a great opportunity to show some of the unique layouts they have devised that will set them apart from the cookie cutter layouts of their competition.

  • You will have to search this model out used. We own a KZ RV Coyote Lite CL164 (no slide) and love it. It has a 16' cabin and is 21.5 ft long bumper to hitch coupler. Has a larger 2 way fridge, 2 way HWT, deep cycle battery, A/C, shower, bathroom, queen bed, 2 person dinette, 2 burner stove, wardrobe, 10' awning, pass thru storage, propane tank, etc. Great little unit for a wife & I and the 85 pound dog. There was a slide out model built too. I have seen a few for sale used. Last year for them was 2011. Single axle too... so cheaper on toll roads.
  • Have you checked out the Lance 1575 trailer? 15'5" floor length, 19'6" overall length. Has all the goodies you want. 160 watt solar.
