travel trailer thermostat

When camping this weekend I tried to use my AC but it would not turn on. Turn the thermostat to fan and nothing. Switched to heat and nothing. Everything work fine 3 weeks ago. My trailer is a 2007 Fleetwood Pioneer. Is there any reset switches that maybe tripped? Circuit breaker was not tripped.

  • I have the same control unit pictured above that skipnchar posted. There is a delay on mine. When turned on, and switched to A/C, it takes a bit for the signals to process, the satelites to align, and then it kicks on. Might try what other postes have said, and just switch it, then wait. And if your are getting any kind of display on the LCD panel, then obviously it is turned on.
  • Some brands of thermostat have a SMALL yet difficult to move switch that turns the thermostat off and on. If it is turned off there is nothing that will make it work until it's turned on. Switch is usually located on the bottom of the thermostat in one corner or the other and the switch is usually only about 1/8" sized button. I BELIEVE this is a description for an "Dometic" thermostat.

    Good luck / Skip

I think the thermostats need 12VDC to operate. Be sure the battery system is working.

    just my thoughts

No, but there sure is a delay switch that kicks in!

When you start flipping the switches on and off and from AC to heat it kicks in the delay. The delay on mine seems like forever. Can't tell you how many times "I" thought the AC was broke. I just didn't wait long enough.

Turn it on and WAIT. It will most likely come on.

This would be my "guess" also. Set the thermostat to cool, set the desired temp and then be patient. Mine takes 30 seconds or more to actually start working.

I switched out the default Dometic thermostat for a Honeywell unit, and this featured bugged the heck out of me... Just when I got the AC working, I try it again and it doesn't work.. Once I actually read the manual, I figured out what it was, but it doesn't seem like his issue, because he's getting nothing for heat either, unless this has a delay as well.

If you have a multimeter, remove the cover and see if you have any power getting to the device... If you look up which wires do what, you might be able to debug the issue.
