Thanks for shouting. Otherwise I would not have heard you.
Yes the OP could build a platform above his propane tanks in the tongue of the TT. However that may add way too much weight to the tongue, and at the same time to the cargo capacity. I suspect his SUV is nearing it's cargo capacity even before adding that external gas tank.
15 gallons of gasoline weight 94.5#. Plus the weight of the tank itself, plus the weight of the metal needed to build the platform for the tank to sit on.
I'd say that was a most impractical solution.
Also notice I did not have to shout at you even once.

That doesn't help the OP. He has an SUV, not a truck.Gdetrailer wrote:RavensFan24 wrote:
How many of you travel with spare fuel for your TV? I'm sure for most of you with pickups, there is a pretty simple solution...toss a can in the truck bed. I have an SUV. Where would you recommend I store spare fuel? The front hitch area is too tight to fit a gas can. I thought of may be mounting a Jerry can on the rear bumper, but was curious what others do.
During my research for a can thats the right size I came across pre-packaged spare fuel, which is an interesting concept. Super expensive, but you can toss a jug in the pass thru storage and be done. I have to wonder how long it'd be good for though.
Fuel stops often can be a bit worrisome and always ended up stopping more often than we needed to because of a few long stretches of no stations or what we found were miles out of the way or difficult to get into the pumps.
We fixed that by buying one of these..
15 GALLON FUEL STATION
along with a electric gas fuel pump, I was able to put the tank on some long 2x6s and put in the back of my truck.
This gives us an extra 140 miles of range..
You could mount it above your propane tanks and possibly gravity feed it, avoiding the need for a fuel pump..
We are pleased with it and wished we had done it 15 yrs ago.
Umm. perhaps YOU SHOULD READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE MAKING A FOOL OF YOURSELF?
I DID ADDRESS THE OP'S SITUATION.
I BOLDED my text to clearly show you YOUR MISTAKE
OP CAN build a platform over the propane tanks, MOUNT the fuel station ABOVE THE PROPANE TANKS. Then it may be possible to gravity feed.
The tank I posted was designed for landscapers, to be MOUNTED on a landscape trailer and IS "legal" to haul gasoline or diesel.
Did that clear up YOUR "objections about my suggestion?
